DESIGN INTENT
This project required converting an old warehouse into a restaurant. The design needed to create an atmosphere of understated luxury; a place that you can go to relax and unwind with friends, family or colleagues. The goal was to set high expectations of the entire dining experience, right from the moment you walk in the door. This is a restaurant where you would expect the service and the menu to meet, if not surpass, the visual experience.
CONCEPT
This design was inspired by the surrounding railway of this neighbourhood. Throughout this design you will see vertical lines and detailing that plays homage to the history of the area. The aesthetic of this restaurant is influenced by the simplicity and clean lines of Scandinavian designs and the colour palette was chosen right from the West Coast landscape.
DESIGN APPLICATION
This restaurant has three distinct guest experiences: casual and social in the lounge, more intimate and private in the dining room, and a cozy rooftop oasis on the patio. The use of level changes in each space helps create the feeling of separation for each area, while still retaining an open feeling for the entire building. While the lounge, dining room and patio all have their own personalities; they were designed to be cohesive and to easily interact and flow from one to the other.
